GTA San Andreas is the best GTA game of all time. Not debatable. Even though GTA 3 was the real monumental change that brought RockStar all it's fame, and even though GTA Vice City (of which I am not a fan) has a pretty strong following, GTA San Andreas brought somethings to the game that no other GTA ever had. Lets take look at them one by one.
First of all San Andreas had hands down the best story of them all. The story was not only great but it was heart touching as well. A man Carl Johnson comes home for his moms funeral, only to find his brother, his friends and his neighborhood in distress. He begins struggling from the bottom trying to work his way up, trying to figure out what and who are the cause of all these problems. The story is full of plot twists, betrayals, adventure and thrill.
Some of the missions were so good I had to save the game before those missions so that every time I loaded that game slot the first thing I would get to do was to play those missions.
Two of my favorite mission are the one where you have to take over the rival casino. And the best part about that is that before you can attempt that mission you need to do another 4 missions just in order to prepare for the big casino takeover mission. Now that is what I call proper gamelplay.
The second one was where you take over the mansion of the rapper. You skydive from a plan with a bunch of CIA agents backing you. You drop down and shoot the place up with your own CIA special ops team. I don't know how it gets any better.
There was the addition of single articles of clothes, haircuts, gym workouts, tattoos, fighting classes and a lot more to completely modify the main character CJ and improve him as well. None of the other GTA's had that. In addition, cycling, flying the plane, driving the train, all these were amazing features, specially the jet pack.
One of the best things about the game were the cheats. The cheats were absolutely hilarious as well as entertaining, like the flying car, higher bmx jump, spawning a tank. These cheatas were what made people like me spend countless hours on the game doing nothing but entertaining ourselves to the wonderfull world that we had in San Andreas.
I played it so much that at one point I didn't even need the map I knew all the routes of the entire map. In conclusion, I think that GTA San Andreas is the best GTA of all times
